Studio I Rehearsal Room I Cultural Center: Schlot
Dissatisfied with her studio situation at the university, Birgit Koblinger set out in 2014 to find a place where she could continue glassmaking. Finding this wasn't possible at the art university, she found what she was looking for in Linz's Glass Shard District. Thus, she returned to the infamous neighborhood that had been a part of her life since her apprenticeship.
Standing in the far too large hall, it flashed through her like a lightning bolt:
"I have a dream!" In her mind's eye, a shared studio with a rehearsal room takes shape.
Now she is searching again. This time for people who want to participate – and she has found them.
Today, the chimney is an established cultural institution, a cultural award winner, a community studio, a rehearsal room & a living room.

Artist collective Schlot: Christgsindlmarkt
Where stimuli are overwhelming,
wherever you can, buy junk,
where the loudspeakers sing "O Christmas Tree",
where you can dance with the DJs.
Every year during the Advent season, the Schlot's premises are transformed into the Christgsindlmarkt (Christmas Market). A parody of typical Christmas markets, the Gsindlmarkt, located in the Glasscherbenviertel (Glass Shard Quarter), is enjoying ever-increasing popularity.
